One of the best ways to ensure a successful move is to make sure your moving company is fully aware of all your moving details well before moving day has arrived. This includes things like: understanding the pricing structure, arrival time on moving day, what supplies need to be brought by the movers, which items require disassembly to move, which items, if any, require more than two men to lift, which hallways/doorways/staircases could prove difficult in moving furniture through (at both locations), and which damage valuation coverage you want for your move. You should not make any other plans on moving day other than to move. The process can be more time consuming than one would think, and adding an extra obligation can oftentimes be difficult to handle.
When preparing for your move make sure to keep the following things in mind: Start packing 2-3 days before the move to give you plenty of time to finish before moving day. Anything that can fit into a box should be packed into a box (taped and sealed). Empty out your furniture completely. Moving furniture with contents inside of them makes the item more likely to get damaged. Be sure to label your boxes accordingly and know where your furniture is going to be at the new location. All fragile boxes should be marked boldly with “Fragile” on at least two sides of the box. Make sure to do a final walk through at the loading and unloading site to ensure everything you wanted the movers to handle is taken care of!
Moving companies offer a variety of different supplies they use to transport your belongings safely. Make sure you know which supplies are included, which supplies cost extra, and which supplies the company simply does not offer. Please keep in mind Arch Moving will bring the following supplies at no additional cost to you!
Arch Moving Included Supplies: basic tools for disassembly/reassembly, furniture blankets, industrial grade stretch wrap, tie down straps to secure your items in the truck, and standard dollies for efficiency/heavy items.
If you require our movers to only load your belongings into a truck, storage unit, POD, etc. please take note that we will be taking our supplies home with us. The safest thing to do is purchase items like furniture blankets, tie down straps, and mattress bags from Arch Moving to ensure your items are safe and secure while your items sit in a storage unit, POD, or are being transported in your own truck.
